Why am I called an “Occupational” Therapist?

Not many people know what an Occupational Therapist is and the name can be a little confusing!
You see, as an Occupational Therapist, we consider your “occupations” to be everything that you do throughout your day – not just your paid occupation. Sleeping, socialising, sporting activities, playing, being a parent, walking the dog, your hobbies – they are all your occupations too!
We know how massively important it is for us all to be able to continue to engage in all the activities we want to. So as an “occupational” therapist, my role is to make sure you can do all of these things well and enjoy doing them!
In my area of practice, I focus on soft tissue conditions, which unfortunately often cause pain, restrictions or problems that get in the way of you doing all those “occupations” that you want, need and love to do.
So in a nutshell, I’m here to help you overcome any limitations you have from soft tissue and musculoskeletal conditions to allow you to get back into doing all the “occupations” you love – for now and forever. Because that’s what life is all about – doing the things we love!
If you or someone you know has a pain or injury that’s restricting what they can do, feel free to get in touch.
If you’d like to chat about anything before booking in an OT session, please get in touch. Otherwise you can book online directly here.
