So what is Soft Tissue OT?
This is definitely a common question!
Soft Tissue OTs focus on any soft tissue pain, discomfort or difficulties that you might be experiencing and help you overcome these so you can get the most out of your life.
The term “soft tissue” is a collective term for all your muscles, tendons, fascia and ligaments. Soft tissue issues can result from major incidents that have occurred throughout life, such as accidents or injuries. Or they may be a result of more subtle influences accumulating over time, such as poor posture, muscular imbalances, emotional stress or hormonal imbalances.
Soft Tissue OT employs a variety of hands on techniques, including neuromuscular, myofascial and myopractic techniques to release muscle tightness, relieve pain, increase movement, reduce inflammation and improve muscle strength and balance.
Treatment with a Soft Tissue OT aims to enhance spinal muscle alignment and the body’s biomechanics, working at the “cause” level. It doesn’t just look at the symptoms and offer a band-aid solution. Soft Tissue OTs also address everything your body does outside the clinic room, allowing us to look holistically at your injury or pain to make long term changes.
Any presenting issues are assessed and treated with a holistic and client-centred approach. Treatment incorporates neurophysiologically based stretching and strengthening programs to assist in restoring optimal movement patterns and improve the health and function of musculoskeletal structures.
Soft Tissue OT can benefit patients across all ranges of the life span, from young children with muscular pains right the way through adults with chronic conditions.
You don’t need a referral to see a Soft Tissue OT and treatment is eligible for a rebate from your private health fund, depending on your level of cover.
