TENDONITIS, TENOSYNOVITIS AND TENDINOPATHY
If you’ve been diagnosed with any of the above conditions, there’s a good chance you’ve struggled to even pronounce them let alone understand what they actually mean – and then you’ve googled…
As much as Dr Google can be a wealth of information, it usually leaves patients confused and a bit overwhelmed, going around in circles trying to figure out their own injuries.
So lets break down the basics – the three types of injuries above are all injuries to a TENDON. You have literally hundreds of tendons in your body and they all attach your muscle to a bone.
All of the three injury names above are essentially a way of saying that your tendon is pretty unhappy and has become injured, inflamed and more than likely pretty painful. In a basic nutshell. But why has it happened? And how do you get rid of it?
Soft Tissue OTs look at tendonitis tenosynovitis and tendinopathy a little differently. At your first appointment, I do a thorough assessment to find out what is causing YOUR tendon issues and then treat accordingly.
I work to reduce the inflammation and irritation at the site of the actual tendon and focus on restoring the movement and function of the muscle that tendon is attached to. However, it doesn’t just stop there.
I go beyond that actual tendon and it’s muscle too. After all, there’s a reason this injury occurred in the first place.
This ensures we can get rid of your tendon issue as quickly as possible, prevent it returning and get you back to doing everything you’d like to be doing!
