Stretching for a Better Posture

For most people, they are quite aware when they start to develop poor posture.

Most people usually say they’ll catch a glimpse of themself in the mirror or in a photo and suddenly see how much their posture has turned from upright into a slouched position.

But for others, it’s the telltale signs of midback pain, lower back pain, sore shoulders and neck pain that lets them know their spine muscles aren’t quite as happy as they should be!

Truly good posture is not simply holding your shoulders back though. Good posture requires your shoulders, back and hips to all be sitting in the optimal position and your core muscles to be supporting that position all day, every day.

However, many people find that increasing the flexibility in their chest and midback is a good starting point to allow them to hold a better posture.

You can find some easy chest stretches here and midback stretches here. Doing these daily will certainly help with postural correction. And if you’re feeling like a bit of extra stretching, you can click here to see a range of other stretches.
