Spotlight on Shoulder Pain

Pain in the shoulder joint can be caused by many different conditions. It could be caused by some of the more common conditions such as bursitis, tendonitis, impingement, frozen shoulder or even arthritis. Or it may be caused by something entirely less common.

The shoulder joint itself is pretty vulnerable to injuries, mostly because it’s a very mobile joint that’s supported largely by a unique set of muscles called the rotator cuff group. To have a shoulder behaving well, all these muscles need to be working in sync and in perfect harmony. However, they’re often not doing that. Cue the pain…

Many people continue to suffer longterm with shoulder pain, despite trying a number of things to ease the discomfort. Rest and other attempts can often help initially, only for it to increase again when you start using the joint. It can be a frustrating cycle!

As a soft tissue OT, my role is to work out what exactly has caused your shoulder pain, use the right treatment techniques and help to address it longterm so you can get back to doing all the things you’d like to be doing, pain free.

If you or someone you know is experiencing shoulder pain and would like to chat about it, feel free to share this post with them.

Online bookings are available here. But feel free to get in touch with me directly if you need to chat about anything before booking in.
