Autoimmune Diseases

Autoimmune conditions happen when your immune system mistakenly attacks your own body and can be common and debilitating for many people. Every autoimmune condition is different in how it effects the body and everyone’s symptoms can be very, very different.

Joint pain, aching and flaring muscle pain is an incredibly common problem experienced by people with various autoimmune conditions. When that’s added to other symptoms such as fatigue, inflammation, swelling, nerve issues and muscle weakness, you can see why it’s quite a problem!

In the clinic, I see a lot of people with autoimmune conditions, helping them manage the musculoskeletal pain they get as a side effect of their condition.

This most commonly include people with:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Reactive Inflammatory Arthritis
  • Ankylosing spondylitis
  • Lupus
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Type I Diabetes
  • Psoriasis
  • Immune triggered Parkinson’s Disease
  • Thyroid autoimmune conditions
  • Myasthenia gravis and
  • Celiac disease

OTs are well experienced in treating and helping people with autoimmune conditions so they can manage their symptoms, minimise pain, regain function and stay well.

If you or someone you know has an autoimmune condition with musculoskeletal side effects, feel free to get in touch.
