Tips for new parents, carers and grandparents…

Welcoming a new little one into the family can be a huge time of happiness, lots of love and of course a steep upwards learning curve – including in the ideal and not so ideal way to hold your bubba.

So many times, new parents and carers come into the clinic with a sudden onset of musculoskeletal pain, often due to holding bubs in an awkward position, increased loads on the body from all the extra nursing and cuddles and late night yoga to get bubs in a comfy sleeping position.

This seems to happen more in the first 12-18 months, particularly for new mums who are extra vulnerable.

During this time, there’s a lot of physical work involved, whilst the core and joint stability haven’t quite returned to normal levels yet to protect against all this extra work. The good news is that many of these aches and pains are really treatable and can even be prevented.Getting to the root cause of the issue with soft tissue therapy, ergonomic positioning advice and correct biomechanics can help you get on top of an issue pronto, so you can get back to (comfortably) enjoying all the baby snugs for as long as you like.

If you or someone you know is experiencing the newborn baby aches and pains, feel free to get in touch.
