Ergonomics Setup

Setting up your desk and workspace correctly is important for you and your body. A good seated posture is one in which you are comfortable and well supported through your spine, hips and limbs. Having a good ergonomic setup can not only prevent and reduce pain, but also allow you to be less fatigued and more productive as you work.

I’ve seen first hand how small changes to a seat setup, screen position, mouse placement or phone setup can give massive changes to someone’s pain, inflammation and restrictions.

It’s a good idea to regularly check your desk setup. Over time, we tend to shift objects around or change our setup slightly, so it’s always a good idea to do an ergonomics “health check” every few weeks. If you share a desk with someone else, or have come back from holidays, that’s also a good opportunity to double check your setup is still correct.

The diagram below shows the ideal way you should have your desk set up and is a great guide to get you started. You can also use the ergonomics checklist in my resources section to make sure you’ve covered everything.

If you need help with checking your desk setup, or you have an unusual workspace design, feel free to ask me about the best setup for you at your next appointment.
