Tennis Elbow – the facts.

Believe it or not, you don’t even have to play tennis to get this nasty elbow condition.

Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis as it’s officially known, produces pain and tenderness on the outer side of the elbow.

The pain can radiate around the area, sometimes even down the arm, and is often made worse by simple tasks such as picking up the kettle, pulling up the bed covers or gripping something tightly (and of course, as the name suggests, tennis makes it worse too!). You can lose grip strength and it can cause a lot if issues in day to day activities.

Tennis elbow can respond really well to Soft Tissue OT treatment. As it’s an injury to your common extensor tendon in your forearm, we work on the muscles adjoining to the injured tendon to take the load off them, and use a range of techniques to reduce inflammation and give the tendon a chance to heal. We also work on the surrounding muscle areas, and even up work into your neck and shoulder as these areas can also be involved in this condition. This helps to make sure we are getting rid of the issue for good!
